Dinosaur Espionage - Helloween

Dinosaur Espionage - Mixtape v2 (New Year's 2008 Flavor)

Dinosaur Espionage started as a remix and production project between two of Columbus, OH's party djs when they invited their friends to a gay bar in a mid-sized midwestern city and wanted to see what would happen if they played the Gorilla Biscuits and then "Call On Me" by Eric Prydz ... it was weird.

For some reason people decided they liked it, so they decided to do it all the time and became monthly residents at what became one of the biggest nights in Columbus.
Fancy, huh?

Dinosaur Espionage took to the decks with their usual eclectic mixes of styles, ranging among quality Baltimore Club remixes, Electro, Hardcore, and SynthPop, 80's classics, party Hip-Hop, Classic Rock, R n' B, the occasional classic house, Weird Brazillian stuff blah blah blah. Listen to the mixtapes we're sure youll get the idea. After a few installments of Sweatin' at its initial home, the party had outgrown the walls of Jacks and had racked up citations from the fire marshall for overcrowding.

Dinosaur Espionage began creating their own remixes and mash-ups to incorporate into their sets because you can't play diplo remixes for 3 hours... apparently.

Dinosaur Espionage is Dave Espionage (David Cox-Espenlaub,) a DJ of 14 years with a background in piano, recording engineering and a love of curry with DJ Dinosaur (Demetrius Goosbey) who who was in some bands trying to "emote" all over america's basement shows. The resulting mess can be seen in myspace, facebook and flickr photos. Once some dudes head totally got jumped on. It was gnarly.

Dinosaur Espionage has:

  • Played in the basement of a Hookah bar for 3 hours with girls dancing on sofas while dave nada made out with a 19 year old. And some other dude lost a shoe.
  • DJed the monthly Sweatin' in Columbus, OH both as residents (June 2007-November 2007) and guest performers (February 2008) to wall-to-wall crowds. Just like famous rappers.
  • Did guest slots for weekly parties at Bento Go Go (July 2007-September 2007)
  • Played at a Burlesque show about bicycles in Chicago in some dude's art space / apartment, with people jumping around so hard records were skipping (December 2008.)
  • DJed individually in New York City, and Taiwan while making beats together online (2009-current)
  • Unofficially remixed and officially produced tracks that have brought the sounds of the Pet Shop Boys with Cam'ron, Jay-Z with Baltimore Club breaks, Gorillaz with a blender, and Michael Jackson with Simian Mobile Disco. But if anyone asks, we didn't do it.
